Day 1 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Arrival at Salvador – Suchitoto

Salvador - Suchitoto - Los Almendros de San Lorenzo

Arrival at Suchitoto, cradle of history and culture of El Salvador, where it seems that time has stopped; installation in the Valley of Almonds in an old colonial house 200 years old, fully restored, charming, personalized welcome (12 rooms and suites overlooking the lake), with a nice courtyard with pool, which will be the base for your excursions in Salvador.

Day 2 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Suchitoto – Lake Suchitlán, cigars and indigo blue

Morning free to wander in the cobbled streets of Suchitoto to the central square shaded and pretty white church Saint Lucia, to visit its art galleries and the Casa-Museo (house Museum) of the  filmmaker and writer Alejandro Cotto and its treasures on History of the country and city; from the flowery gardens, admire a beautiful view of the lake Suchitlán, the largest artificial lake in the country. On the afternoon, boat ride on the lake Suchitlán to Birds Island, a protected area, very visible birds from November to March, then visit a small workshop cigars and stop in a ecological hacienda to know the process of extracting the indigo blue, the blue maya, a blue powder from plant Xiuhquilit (« blue grass » in Nahuatl), a pigment widely used by civilizations in Mesoamerica.

Day 3 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Museums of San Salvador and the site Joya del Ceren, the Pompeii of America

Road to San Salvador volcano and also the capital of the country, visit the Museum of Modern Art and the beautiful Museum of Anthropology with a restaurant gourmet  ideal for a lunch. Then visit the ruins of San Andrés, the largest pre-Hispanic center of El Salvador and the beautiful site of Joya del Ceren, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO; known as the Pompeii of America, it is an eruption of Caldera volcano,  which,  in  600,  burying the site under a layer of five meters of ashes, retained the today only ones important traces of the daily life of a farming community Mesoamerican. Then back to Suchitoto with a stop at the beautiful colonial church of San Juan Opico.

Day 4 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Volcanoes National Park

Day in the middle of the volcanoes… more than 25 volcanoes in El Salvador … Beautiful hiking in Volcanoes National Park, a diverse vegetation with beautiful views of the beautiful Lake Coatepeque at the top of the crater Cerro Verde, of Santa Ana, the highest volcano in the country, and of the Izalco volcano, « the lighthouse of the Pacific »   because of its emanations of lava, until 1966, could be seen from the ocean. Formed in 1770, this volcano is one of the newest in  American continent. Then visit Santa Ana, the second largest city in the country, stroll through its historic center to observe many baroque and neoclassical buildings of the twentieth century, as its gothic cathedral, the National Theatre and the Museum de Occidente. In return, stop at Boquerón, the crater of San Salvador. Also possible during the day : climb a volcano or, with prior permission, trek at National Park El Imposible, the largest ecological reserve in the country, tropical forests and an incredible amount of birds.

Day 5 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Road of the Flowers and Coffee

With the skyline volcanoes, go on Road of the Flowers with on the way pleasant and charming villages,  Nahuizalco, Juayua, Apaneca, Ataco. Stop at Izalco, where some people, descendants of the Mayan, from Pipil-Nahuatl community, speaks Pipil, and know about a project to save native languages, the Pipil is taught in a village school. Share cultural traditions with your hosts. Visit a coffee finca and picturesque villages.

Day 6 - Salvador / Suchitoto

Departure from Salvador or extend you stay on the Pacific coast

At the edge of the Pacific, a beautiful home with every comfort, with pool and colorful hammocks, invites you to relax and swim in a quiet hal-moon cove with clear sand while enjoying beautiful sunsets. For surfers, Punta Roca is the essential spot in the country.
